What you're really missing out on is Tivo. DVRs help make TV watchable.

That being said, I agree with the general theme of not allowing an object to run your life.

So much easier for the guards, however, to keep them busy with TV. I think that is why, when they got rid of smoking, the guards were actually against it. Made their jobs harder. What they really need are constructive educational and work programs.
